100% natural botanical dye • Zero-waste
Organic Belizean logwood dye chippings
Pure heartwood chippings from wild-harvested Belizean logwood. A zero-waste byproduct of our furniture making, they give textile artisans, natural dyers and ink makers rich purples, deep violets and intense blacks.

Natural purples & blacks
How logwood responds to mordants
Sought after in Europe since the 16th century, logwood heartwood is rich in natural hematoxylin and shifts strongly with mineral mordants:
- Alum gives royal purples, rich violets and deep lavenders.
- Iron (ferrous sulfate) yields blue-blacks, raven blacks and warm slate charcoals with excellent lightfastness.
- Copper and neutral mordants give navy blues and chocolate-plum undertones.
Zero-waste by design
Our chippings come only from branches and limbs harvested for Salas Furniture's tables and beds. No trees are felled to produce them. Turning workshop remnants into dye material closes the loop on a 100% zero-waste production cycle.
